We have a bill in this legislative session to get rid of the time change. Proponents- Farm Bureau- Opponents- Motor carriers of Montana- So far it's passed the senate and is passing thru the house. Not sure what the all-knowing gov will do when it hits his desk.

Of course we could just shorten the radius of the Earth's orbit and eliminate those Leap Seconds while giving you that extra sun you were after 🙂

Then why not keep it like that all year long?
I vote after tonight; we never fall back!
It's actually bad for people's health, get rid of it!!!!! Do it for the children!!!! The idea was a satire by old Ben; no doubt he is looking down laughing at us dummys;)
I had always assumed that our country's lawmakers grew tired of surveyors always saying that they ran out of light to get the job done, until someone told me that it doesn't matter how long the day is, its not enough for this job. There is still 2 feet of snow here, and one month officially left in the ski season, but for me, its the first day of work season. I make most of my income in the next six months, and I am thankful for the longer days, I just wish they would keep it that way.

Had to share that one with family.
I'm one who would certainly be up for picking one, the other, or simply the middle and running with it.
And as one who tends to go to bed way, way too early, I'm not a big fan of it staying light out so late.
Back when I was a youngster and we didn't have DST in the summer, I can recall wanting to play with a kid but his mama told him to get to bed because it was his bedtime despite there being all sorts of daylight left. I thought she was a mean mama. Poor kid would have missed out on another hour of play time if there had been DST.

Is this a thing for DST? In Australia we have it as April 1st. "Don't be a fool this April Fools day, Change your batteries and save a life"
Also glad that I'm in QLD, the only Eastern state that doesn't observe DST.
Some brilliant people decided to come up with the plan of advertising each year around the two time changes that everyone should put new batteries in their smoke detectors. That is probably a wise idea. Otherwise, we all are so lazy we would put in a battery when installing the detector then never think to put in a new one at any time in the future.

Where are they with the bill?
I always assumed that DST was created to make sure that the youngest children always waited for the school bus in the dark.

Passed the Senate 34-16, In the House now- hearing is tomorrow.
"Will there ever be a time we stop doing this #$@ !???"
Yes, but it will probably be an hour late. No, wait, an hour earlier... No. wait, damn - are they east or west of us? Wait...
Fortunately, we never adopted that hair-brained system, so we don't have to waste legislative time and effort on getting rid of it. We have too much other stuff to waste legislative time and effort on!

When I passed through AZ (many moons ago, 1987), I truly appreciated the state had not adopted DST. Then I had places I wanted to go in neighboring states at particular times. Now what time do I have where I"m at, what time do I need to be "there", what time am I supposed to be there, when do I have to leave here to get there on time? Now what time was I aiming for again?
And we start all over again.

Is the intention to begin standard time next year, or fall back this spring?

Go back to Mountain standard time in the fall and never look back.... The bill is SB 206.
