That's it . . . today it's winter in Ohio.
Yesterday it was spring . . . today it's %#$#@$$%$%###&$%$#$ winter!
ANYWHERE where winter lasts more than a week at a time, one has to . . . ABSOLUTELY must prepare and be ready for it.
It would be so nice to be where winter is an annoyance rather than a whole season.
Cold weather serves it's purpose, inthat it kills others who can stand it less than myself (like mosquitoes & flies and such), so to that end winter isn't so bad.
Problem is, not only can I not stand winter as much anymore, but when winter lasts more than an intermittent few days or even a week from time to time, a person actually has to have a "wintertime" wardrobe . . . not just a coat or single long-sleeved shirt that kept hidden away for those few days when needed.
My, how I'd like to live where winter is just a visitor . . . not a squatter.
Yeah I hear you, SWMBO has me scheduled to go buy a box of fake logs so we don't freeze this weekend.
For what it's worth have a great weekend! B-)
i was born and raised in the Dallas area, and i can sympathize w/ you. i can do 100° better than 32°. those two facts have me wearing long johns from the beginning of November (or earlier) until May, but i am becoming less of a summer time fanatic also due to the extremely high summer temps.
some folks don't know it, but it can get pretty frigging chilly in n. tejas, especially w/ a 20 mph wind.
We just got the wind chill above 10°, here's the 5 day
forecast.
Frank, when I grew up in Ft.Worth and that North wind would get to blowing, they used to say that there wasn't anything between Ft.Worth and Canada except 3 bob wire fences and 2 of them were broken.
How about
ordering up some warmer weather for Speed Weeks. I'd prefer upper 70's in the daytime and 50's at night. 3 or 4 years ago when we were in Daytona for the race my wife and I were grilling in the parking lot before the race. A couple got out of the car next to us and immediately started complaining about the heat (it was about 70). She said they had just flown in from Alaska. I told her she DID NOT want to come back for the July race if 70 was too hot.

Todays motivation to move faster:
Lord willing I'll be at speedweeks too, and 70 is not too hot. Feel free to order 85.
Yep, overcoat, boots, fuzzy hat, the whole nine yards
That's what I discovered during my years in Michigan. It wasn't so much the actual temperature, it was the fact that the temperature did not fluctuate in the way I had grown up with.
In Kansas, it can be 75 one afternoon and 3 below by midnight of the following day. Along the shores of Lake Michigan it would rise and fall verrrrrrrrrry slowly over weeks. There is no need to ask what the temperature is because it will be within a couple of degrees of the last time you checked.
All hope of warmer temperatures in the winter and cooler temperatures in the summer is lost.
How about
They would never make it in the infield for the July race. Well they might if someone let them use their pool.
See y'all soon!
You're right about the wardrobe. I may have to find my winter coat if this keeps up.
New Orleans area weather. When the North wind blows, the southshore gets a little warmer because of the winds blowing across the warm waters of Lake Pontchartrain.
