It's 10 degrees with a -2 degree windchill here in Euharlee, Georgia.?ÿ

I have decided that is too cold to try and work in those temperatures and that the only ones who would choose to work in those temperatures are idiots, morons, Dumbasses and fools.

Light snow flurries in Oveido FL. (suburb of Orlando) last night. I'm beginning to think the Earth's axis is tilting.?ÿ?ÿ ??ÿ

All crews are out this morning with the understanding if the wind makes it too cold to come on back in.

Don't forget about the incessant being soaked from sweat while attempting to stay hydrated (speaking from experience, that's a loosing battle) and trying to avoid heat stroke....?ÿ

I've been waiting to do some fieldwork until temps get up into the single digits. Today is the day.....

Well......I am kinda like a bearded Goldilocks, better looking though.

I don't like it too cold or too hot. I can deal with hot better than cold though. I can't seem to function in the cold. Its kinda funny, I don't mind hunting in the cold weather but I cannot bear to work in the cold weather.

When it gets near a 100 degrees with 80% humidity it is unbearable but I can work neked if I must.?ÿ ??ÿ I admit that staying hydrated is a chore when it is hot and I whine like a little b!tch for that as well.

But when it is in the single digits or below I cannot risk exposure to my dangly bits.

Where's TDD when you need him, he would whip you wimps into shape.

-12.5 F this morning, now 3?ø so time to head out. Really its not to bad just that the frost is going deep. Snow is light and fluffy so no snowshoes yet.

as cold as it is I would rather work in this than 90?ø

I'm just the opposite. I have no issue working down to about -10 as long as it's sunny and calm and the terrain is hilly. I sweat easily and I can't stand when I sweat. Hot weather kills me.

Fall is my favorite time of year; not to hot; not to cold...

Kinda funny, I don't mind sitting on the beach with my toes in the sand and a drink in my hand but I cannot bear to work in the heat and humidity...

I can dress for the cold; but NOBODY wants to see me Nekked ??ÿ

Working in the heat and humidity of summer is a challenge, but I'll take it over being cold any time. In the heat it's just a matter of ensuring that you get enough water, rest, and shade to prevent heat related illness. The only thing that I really dislike about working in the heat is doing it in FRC clothing; that increases the discomfort, and the need for precaution, exponentially.

15?øF this morning with a north wind to make -2?øF wind chill.

That was taxing my moderate heating plan past the limit.

Inside was 62?øF and that 1/8in water pressure gauge line was frozen keeping the pump from kickin' in.

That thawed when the wind died and it rose above 20?øF and the sun came out and warmed the tin well shed.

Plan to do some traverse during the next few sunny days to come as it is supposed to go from 15?øF in the morn to around 44?øF by Wednesday.

Then it will probably rain on the weekend.

I lived a good twenty-five years of my adult life with a well instead of city water.?ÿ Being the first one up I was also the first one to the john.?ÿ The well tank and pump that had sat all night long would jump to life with the first flush of the toilet.?ÿ And if everything made it through the cold night without freezing, I could see the light in the bathroom flicker slightly as the pump kicked in...meaning all was good.?ÿ No flicker and no toilet tank recharging meant I had to put my coveralls on and go do "froze well duty".?ÿ God bless the man that invented the "industrial strength blow-dryer".

I've live in town for 20 years now.?ÿ And I still watch the light bulb as I flush the toilet first thing in the morning.?ÿ Why I don't know...

Mid 50s in Anchorage today.?ÿ

It's a mess.

For those in areas that don't often freeze - give it a few really cold days and you'll be able to access muddy/swampy parts without getting muddy! Sustained cold weather makes for good travel conditions in wet/swampy environs.?ÿ

@jkinak

This junk is foreign to us hick's in Florida. The majority of the general population can't drive in the rain without crashing. It's gonna be a "demolition derby" around here if any roads freeze.?ÿ

I'll take those Florida temps. We're looking at -20?ø without the windchill.
