I'm surprised that I managed 50% although I had a car-mad dad and a mom who has always driven...interesting cars ('70 442, '75 Cutlass Supreme with a 455, 2 Monte Carlo SS). I have to admit that I'd just looked up the maker of the first automobile a few days ago after being asked by one of my kids in our nightly "ask mom a question". I've banned video game-related questions. Maybe I need to start watching Top Gear again!

There's no way #9 is correct.?ÿ 0-60 in 14 seconds??ÿ I'd believe 4 seconds probably.?ÿ Heck, my big diesel truck will get down the 1/4 in that amount of time at over 90mph and I'm pretty sure any of those cars would smoke my ass!

My brothers and I have intimate knowledge of the acceleration capabilities of the 1962 Chevrolet Impala 409 SS.?ÿ Pops bought one brand new.?ÿ All of us boys eventually got their turn with it before Holden wrapped it around a power pole.

0 to 60 was more in the 5 or 6 second range.?ÿ 14 seconds is more like the 1/4 mile time.?ÿ After some tweaking and tuning my brother Cole had a time card from the local drag strip that showed a quarter-mile time of 13.5 seconds with a speed of a little under 100 mph.?ÿ He kept that card on his dresser mirror.?ÿ He also liked to brag that the car had snow tires on the rear at the time.

That sounds about right. A true classic, too bad you don't still have it.

That is awesome.?ÿ?ÿ I love hearing stories about the old Camaros and Chevelles my dad and uncle had back in the 60's.?ÿ My first car in the early 90's was a 1970 Nova.?ÿ It only had a 235 6cyl in it but my step-dad and I had begun building a small block to go in front of the Power Glide it had.?ÿ Then I got stupid and decided I wanted a car with more modern conveniences and sold it to a buddy who promptly wrapped it around a power pole.?ÿ I still beat myself up for letting that car go.?ÿ I'd like to find me another one some day.?ÿ ?ÿ

I recently inherited a 1968 Camaro from my late brother. It has not run in 25 years (had been in his garage that entire time). It went into the shop last Saturday to get it running and safely road worthy. I should be driving it in a couple of weeks.

@spmpls

Nice specimen.?ÿ The 327 was a great power plant in Chevys during those years. I hope you get it running and roadworthy so you can enjoy motoring in such a nice survivor car.

I think the only diff between the '67 and '68 was the taillights and the '67 had a "wing window" which they dropped that after that year I believe.?ÿ The color looks original.?ÿ Is it a repaint?

@jflamm

You are correct that was a typo on my behalf, it should have been 4.0 seconds, not 14, I was thinking 1/4 mile seconds which nothing in the '60's could do not even Art Arforn (sp?) with his jet dragster.

Thanks for pointing that out.

@paden-cash

I am not sure, but I believe so. Their paint guy is checking it out today. It is all original, matching numbers, factory AC, and not a speck of rust or bondo on it anywhere. Odometer reads a little over 69,000 miles. I should be driving it week after next.
