Think of how long time is, for the most part ratio wise computers/internet have not existed, now think of time forwards and computers/internet will hopefully always exist.
The capabilities of human minds are forever changed and empowered, look at how much has already changed because human minds are connected and drawing intellectual resources from each other.
What a stunning difference to have all these resources available that were not here prior to the information revolution.
Innovation is speeding up exponentially, the speed in which we can collaborate really is one of the most significant advances in human history, in a way it makes me start to see the human race as more of a singular entity and heading towards more and more unification of thinking as the richness of the intellectual internet content evolves, and our minds mature.
I heard one guy say that humans are spirits having a human experience not humans that have occasional spiritual experiences, the mental unification of human minds due to the internet makes me think of this theory.
I have had friends on this and past sites for over a decade, tons of people that I consider friends even though I could never spot you on the street, it really is a bit surreal.
The pretty big thing in the title refers to us and our generation....we are the last ones to know how it was before all the minds were connected, we saw the usering in of this era, and are now wittnessing the the power of something so amazing that it can topple dictators, change the flow of commerce, connect couples for dating, and countless other world altering capabilites....
Crazy times man, but I love it, wishing you the best day of your life, make it happen!

and wishing one to you as well.
"I heard one guy say that humans are spirits having a human experience..."
You're a good one, B.L.
I believe what that guy said.
Sometimes I even believe that we're all the same spirit.

Proof that nearly dying can cause one to contemplate major issues. Excellent, by the way.
It is very true that our individual worlds have expanded enormously courtesy of technological innovations. The telegraph, then the basic telephone, then radio, then TV, then computer-based communication have all allowed our individual worlds to blossom. One hundred years ago, it might be weeks before news from one continent might reach another and, then, only if it were a major event. Fifty years ago, most families avoided placing a long distance telephone call because it was viewed as an expensive luxury. In fact, it has only been 50 years since my home community was provided dial telephone service, replacing the wall-mounted crank phones. Color TV consisted of placing a weird plastic sheet over the picture to create basic colors. People were shocked to find their old friend, the radio, falling into disuse unless it was one of those new-fangled things from Japan called a transistor radio. It was several years later before Dick Tracy was wearing a 'wrist radio' to communicate with other cops.
Today's pre-schooler has had the opportunity to view and hear about every corner of the Earth and the people populating it. Compare that to the few encyclopedias, atlases and such that also required someone who could read to explain the messages being conveyed. And, today some of that progamming is in languages other than English. I remember being in my grandson's kindergarten classroom where they had a play store set up to teach about money. They had a toy credit/debit machine next to the cash register with a selection of plastic cards to swipe through it. In my day, we had colored bits of paper representing coins and bills.
This forum is an excellent example of what B.L. is saying. From rural Lyman to metropolitan Adelaide and most everywhere in between (both ways) we share our skills, knowledge, experience and feelings with people we have never met and probably never will.
I was just talking about this yesterday...
I drew an imaginary time line on the bar and said: In 1975, when I started surveying, I wasn't doing things much different than George Washington, 200 years before me. He wasn't doing things much different than the Egyptians 2000 years before him. Now look at where we are today, 37 years later, and I made a big sweeping curve that went off the top of the bar, in my imaginary time line.....
We live in amazing times for sure.
Those are some really interesting thoughts to ponder. And here I was all set to drift way into Guacamole fueled blissful ingnorance for several hours some kind of sport thing with lots of beer and truck commercials. Now you've got me thinking.
Damn! But thank you for posting.
Yup. Peace & Love.
we are doomed as a species

The human mind will lose it's to store information as we rely on google for everything.
A pretty big thing indeed.
We've been evolving physically for a very long time, now we are truly evolving mentally.
