If I dyed my hair I'd look identical to Tom Selleck.
You can tell that's not a real survey crew. They hardly have any firearms.?ÿ
You can tell that's not a real survey crew.....
One of them is obviously a female.
Well if you look like your avatar the dye didn't work. Consider a "Go Fund Me" campaign for cosmetic surgery and dental work.?ÿ Just look at how brutally handsome I am. ?????ÿ

These days it's probably the one with the short hair. ?????ÿ

Really.?ÿ Also every good surveyor knows to use a good revolver when you're trying to snuff folks in the outdoors so you don't leave tell-tale brass laying around.
And the vests are way too clean without any barbed wire snags.

Actually, as somebody recently pointed out, Tom does very much resemble a long-standing member of this forum.

We be triplets.?ÿ
The long arm is a mini-14, the newer factory offered poly stock option.?ÿ The scope on it is not really good for bouncing around, but it was good for seeing long distances.?ÿ I also have a 1911 under my left arm, and for snakes, which there were plenty, a taurus judge on my belt, with .410 #4 shot.?ÿ
Trust me, Monte, I will not attempt to move into your neck of the woods. ?ÿToo many snakes.
You have 20 pounds of weapons on you, I'm envious. But it makes for a heavy load.
I never had a need to tote a rifle on the job before but I have had them in the truck.
In Cass County area I have not ever had to be armed to survey or be out in the middle of nowhere unless I was hunting.
Many of my clients from the metro areas that were buying land here would be strapped with automatic pistols, AK rifles and one little gal came out of her truck with an automatic shotgun with a shell magazine as long as the barrel and was hunting for a large dog that chased her when she first came out to see the 5ac she had bought.
?ÿ
Roger that, Just.?ÿAnd here I am trying to lighten my "unsprung weight" with smaller data collectors, lighter prisms, no battery sticks and no cables. A long hot day just gets more difficult to manage with that extra weight.
I do a lot of work in South Central LA and have occasionally longed for the security that a weapon would provide, but what I see in Monte's pic seems like overkill for the conditions. Monte are there that many snakes, wolves, gila monsters, mountain lions, crack-heads or illegal alien rapists to warrant being that heavily strapped? Or is that pic just showin' off? If that is the case, then Monte, you are the man! I mean no disrespect.
Monte, I don't know the first thing about the conditions under which you work, but I would be inclined to look elsewhere for work if I had to do that sort of security preparation every day. Just my humble opinion.

I will carry a weapon frequently on jobs and usually it is one of my Beretta's but I have carried my 1911 a time or two and my Ruger MK-IV 22 has gotten some field time but I have never carried a long rifle the field. Now I have carried it in the truck and there have been times when I found a nice squirrel area and?ÿ pulled out the trusty 22 rifle to bad a few after work was finished.
A guy I knew back in the 1980s (now gone) was Marine Recon in Vietnam and said he walked point with a BAR. I don??t doubt him. A wee bit heavier than your kit but he said the firepower was worth humping every pound.?ÿ
Photo caption is Brewster County, a border County. May be the reason.
