Where is the IT guy when you need him

One of the headaches associated with running a small office is needing to be everything from janitor to IT guy.?ÿ I stink at the IT job.?ÿ Just sayin'.

Today the printer decided to run dry on the black cartridge.?ÿ Knew it was due to happen any time so had a couple new ones on hand.?ÿ Made the simple replacement and let the printer cycle through all the stuff that magically happens when you switch cartridges.?ÿ A bit later I needed to print a simple drawing.?ÿ Went through the normal print process, hit OK and answered the telephone that was ringing.?ÿ After the call, I left for about an hour.?ÿ Upon my return I realized I must have neglected to hit OK because I not no print waiting for me in the tray.?ÿ Went through the normal print process, hit OK and waited.?ÿ Nothing happened.?ÿ WTH is going on????????ÿ Tried again and noticed a warning appear telling me there was a problem with the printer or the driver or something because the computer and printer were not linked.?ÿ WTH??????ÿ All I did was change the cartridge like many times before.

Eventually gave up and called the computer firm I use on rare occasions for help.?ÿ We spent 42 minutes on the phone while allowing him to do a remote takeover of my computer.?ÿ His final attempt, and the successful one, was to de-install my printer entirely and then re-install it.?ÿ I would have never come up with that as a solution. (Note comment?ÿ above---I stink at the IT job)

Four hours elapsed between my initial print entry and having the printed plat in my hand.?ÿ Made the big bucks today.?ÿ Woohoo.
