I am in the process of developing a web page (my first one) for my business and am interested in recommendations for purchasing domain names and web-hosting services. A friend has suggested Angelfire. For $8.95 per month, it includes

# FREE Domain Name, plus 5 subdomains. (ex: yourname.com)

# E-mail — 5 POP E-mail addresses, 5 E-mail forwards and 4 MB E-mail storage space.

# 3 GB of Disk Space — A generous amount of disk space gives you the room you need for your files.

# 300 GB of Bandwidth — Plenty of Bandwidth to support all of your visitor traffic.

# Website Stats — Stay up to date on the popularity of your pages with a daily report that analyzes site traffic and other important statistics. Or download the raw traffic logs to do your own analysis.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Is this enough disk space and bandwidth for a small surveying/engineering business?

That's plenty. Although I'd take a look at HostGator if I were you. Be sure to use coupon code BEERLEG2010 to get $9.94 off the package price. 🙂

I use Hostgator for mine. I did a lot of research before I signed up, so I checked out a lot of the budget hosting sites before I did it. Great tech support, and pretty easy to use. I did make the mistake of getting my domain through there, though. It cost me $15 to have HG get my domain, when I could have gotten it through somebody like GoDaddy for $4.95. I just didn't want to mess with transferring the domain and all that jazz. I've learned in hindsight that it's not a big deal to do that.
