Andy, You are absolutely correct, I am ignorant to what SAMSOG has done. And it is because of that ignorance that lately I have been thinking of becoming a member again. However I have to get over the fact that I was told I had nothing good to contribute by a long time member and I should "just get out".?ÿ
I know far more surveyors who are not members of SAMSOG than who are. I would wager a Diet Coke that more surveyors in Georgia are not members than who are.
I don't know if there is a place for me or not in SAMSOG or not. I am not some bobble head that goes along to get along.?ÿ
Steve, as I said I am not a member anymore.?ÿ I am retired so I certainly can't speak for SAMSOG.?ÿ What I can tell you is that we used to have members with whom I strongly disagreed but to whom I still listened.?ÿ I'll be willing to bet you that Diet Coke that ANY organization will have people who don't want any dissension and want things their way all the time.?ÿ If you are a practicing surveyor I believe you should be a member, NOT because they depend on you, but because all surveyors in the state need to have input into the direction that the profession is heading.?ÿ It's kinda like voting, if you don't vote then don't complain about the outcome of the election.?ÿ Get active, volunteer for committees, run for office.?ÿ We used to have to beg people to get involved.
Andy
Bill does nothing to protect or expand our professional turf, but now all the surveyors who have been calling themselves PLS can do so legally, and we've now managed to lower the bar even further in the state.
Well the Governor signed SB 425 yesterday so we are now Professionals. lol It also introduces a tiered system http://www.legis.ga.gov/Legislation/en-US/display/20172018/SB/425
