Caller: I want to build a fence and to put it in the right spot I need a survey. Can you do it this afternoon....for free.
Me: What, did you say for free?
Caller: Well how cheap can I get it?
Me: This office does not provide surveys for private parties and your expectations of cost are unreasonable. Good Luck!
Do you still have their phone number? I'd like to call them and tell them I'll do it for free. They just need to make sure they wait until I get there before building their fence. How long do you think they might wait?
Maybe they think surveying is similar to the utility locate service you call before you dig.
Call him back.?ÿ Tell him you've thought about it more.?ÿ Tell him to email you some photos of his wife nude so you can determine whether or not to show up.?ÿ Explain that it's your policy not to be the only one getting fxxxed on a deal so you need the photos to decide if she should join you.
@holy-cow Actually, I believe it was the wife that called, a female anyway. So that??s not an option this time ????ÿ
I do think there are many people who think they can just call their town and have their boundaries marked out, like it's a service the town does.

"You need to call surveyor X, because nothing he's ever done is worth paying for."

As surveyor for my city, I can assure you that is the case.

As a County Surveyor, I can confirm they also call the county to have their property lines surveyed. "That is not a service that the county offers" is a thing I say a lot.

Technically, in MI, that is still a thing "on the books" for statutes. But one day, it just stopped happening.
Why else would there be a county surveyor?
