In the early days of GPS (mid 80's) the times when we had 4 or more satellites was limited, and it was in the daytime in summer and nighttime in winter. Note that nobody knew what GPS was at the time, so often people and police did not believe us when we tried to explain.?ÿ
I was running a project to bluebook a network for a county in northern Virginia. We had hired an australian fellow with a degree from UNSW (great surveying school down under). Also had a Canadian, and a couple of US guys.?ÿ

I sent the aussie to occupy an NGS station, about 3 AM. He pulled up, was getting setup when a light came on in the nearby house, and a voice asked what he was doing. He said surveying, and next thing he knew the guy was shooting a shotgun over his head. He jumped in his car, took off down the road, and was soon pulled over by the sheriff. That was his intro to the US gun culture...
I would notify the client first and explain the situation and required entry. Have worked on state and federal jobs where the contract specified that client would provide access. What I am suggesting is similar to what these government agencies would do to gain access.

The theory behind this is that every property corner is required to locate the lands of at least one other land owner, and at times locating those corners "on" someone elses land is necessity to exercise your property?ÿ rights.?ÿ

Makes me want to start a collection of all the "NO TRESPASSING" signs I see around here.?ÿ I know good metal ones can be purchased at the hardware store but all my Okie brethren seem fond of the hand-made ones.?ÿ And the only time they really raise an eyebrow on me is if the word trespassing ISN'T misspelled..
I'm not jealous but I'm deeply appreciative of his good fortune.
Esp when he gets a pass on blackberries from the PNW.
The no weapons part always makes me laugh....Um, a ball point pen is really lethal when you're trained to use it so.....
I usually keep those comments to myself, unless I'm with other people who are trained and familiar with unconventional weapons....

I've posted this more than once, and this thread warrants posting it again.
Back on the old forum, someone came up with a hypothesis that the more expensive the No Trespassing sign, the less the danger.?ÿ The poster came up with this idea after running across an old washing machine in the middle of a woods road with "Keep Out" spray painted on it.?ÿ He thought that anyone caught trespassing there would surely be in danger, whereas if they spent a lot of money on a sign, the danger would probably be slight.
