When you're out of the office, and a customer wants to pick up a plan, and you don't want to simply leave your door open, where do you put your plan for the customer to pick up? Do you fold it and put it in an envelope? Do you roll it and put it in a bag? And, most importantly, do any of you use some sort of exterior grade mailbox for the purpose?

All suggestions welcome.
Al

We've kept a large HDPE toolbox (Tuffbox?) by the back office door for years for after-hours plan and file delivery. It was also used to sit on while you removed your muddy boots. After a storm blew it down the street one of the crews starting keeping a bundle of rebar in the bottom. After some kids monkeyed with it at night we put a combo-lock on the hasp. The combination was "2640"...;)

I understand it has been retired.

I have a 4' length of 4" abs (black) with a plastic cap that has a drawer pull on it zip tied to the railing out front. The reprographics guys have been using it for years and on occasion I leave things for clients. A few years ago I put a plug of closed cell foam in the bottom so that you don't have to reach down so far for the 18" rolls.

That has rarely happened, but if it did i would roll the plan and tie it to the doorknob with some pink flagging.

I gotta ask what surprise you put in it after you sold the place?

My ex-partners kept the place and still work out of there daily. Since we still have ties I couldn't really leave them anything that would be wrong (hilarious)..

But they remodeled after I cleaned out my office. New doors, windows, paint and carpet...Kinda like Momma Cash did way back in the day when I was 18 and moved out...

Think maybe they were just waiting to get rid of the smelly old goat before they put in new rug? nah.....

I think I like this solution. Any chance you could take a photo of your setup?

Here is a picture of our delivery tube attached to the wall. I used cable staples and ties to secure it to the wall. Your design may vary.
