I got to thinking about unpopular ideas, and this came to mind:

It the base is sitting in a piece of channel metal.

It's a little awkward to set up, but it has a low chance of theft, and has good sky view, and radio worked great!

Btw, my first shot, after setting the base, was to set a R/R spike, with x in top, nearby, for a "more preserved" base point. That silo may not last.... But makes a great base for the life of this job.

I'd worry about movement in wind, and perhaps staying in a different position after a high wind. Also possible movement as the sun heats up one side more than the other while you work.

Nate,

The bottom corners of that T-2 look an awful lot like those of my T-2. 7 Years old.

@jerry-attrick

Yes, I have silly-coned it together. I have a new green top, but have not yet swapped it.

Thanks,

Nate

@bill93

You could be right.

Next time out there, I think I'll tape it. Wind here is not as bad as Kansas, or other places.
