Yup, being stuck on a foreign flagged ship for 3+ months in the GOM doing marine survey work is not as exciting as one would think. Lots of books, really questionable food, pulling 300' - 600' of cable off the bottom...yup real fun stuff. Of coarse the ROV work is pretty cool.
Yes, the money was good (at the time) and much needed, but I hate having sea legs. This boy needs dirt(mud) under his boots.
