Getting older? getting slower?
This is what happens when you spend too much time outdoors
( I replaced one of our control prisms for the local port on Friday )

NICE!

Seems like it could be a interesting product line to machine up?ÿ some Stainless Steel versions of these( if they already haven't) to take on the salty mist and extreme conditions......?ÿ Thanks for the share!
I'm not surprised by the corrosion on the target?ÿ but the lack of salt spray on the prism is surprising.?ÿ Wouldn't it be nice to get that type of use out of all our equipment.

Zinc sacrificial anode on the new one, perhaps??ÿ
I'm wondering why you need a tribrach, etc. for such an application. There are plenty of fixed targets on the market.?ÿ
This one is sited on a pillar about 200m above and 1.5 km from the town centre.
So we need a big prism, with a good target to sight to. And it needs to be able to angle down toward the town.
We tried attaching the prisms direct to the the pillar, but without the tribrach we were unable to level them and the introduced error was significant

So... Do you rotate it, and aim it very often?
I'm up there at least every six months to polish the glass and re-level - more often if there is something on (like now)
