Hello, first of all I would like to introduce myself on this board. My name is Micha? and I live in Poland.
I became an owner of Zeiss Elta S10 instrument and I'd like to prepare it to one man station surveying.
However, I still don't have an Elta Control Unit, Georadio and...Active prism?
This thread regards to prism part of one man station kit.
Here goes my question, does anyone here use or have been using this gun in one man station mode? Can you share your experience?
The thing is that I am not sure if I need a specific prism (with "quicklock empfanger") or just a standard one to use autolock/quicklock funcion. I have checked the manual but it's not clear enough for me. In addition I'd like to say that the instrument have ATR function which works with standard passive-prism.

I will appreciate any help.

The instrument will lock on to any prism. When I bought my S10 in the late 90's, it came with a "light" that attached atop the prism (the quicklock) to enable the search mode to work much better/faster. If I recall correctly, it will find the prism without it, just not as quick. But I am not positive. I have only used the S10 in recent years as a servo instrument using the instrument keyboard, not robotic (lack of software at the data collector end that will drive it).

I probably have that around here somewhere if you are interested in buying it, as I have not used it in many years. I think it was powered off the radio, if I recall correctly. I could also sell the radio, as I have no use for that either.

The S10 was/is a great instrument, the sad thing is that none of the modern data collectors support it, as far as i know. I used SMI on an HP48 at the time.

Michal,
My experience with the Zeiss S20 is that the prism will not be found without the Quicklock. The instrument will track the prism if you first sight on it manually.
If you are in an area without any obstructions you could probably get away with using
a 360 degree prism. I wouldn't want to use it this way but I guess I would if I needed to.

I have an Elta S20. I have only used it a couple of times I use a hp48 gx with SMI data collection software. It has a 360 Deg prism with quick lock attached on the top.

Thank you for sharing your experience.
Does any of you or anyone else want to sell this quicklight empfanger?

Hello, it me again.
I finally managed to get quicklock prism and dls70 radio.
Moreover I have a recon with TDS robotics that should work with my elta S10 space ( http://site.geosolution.com/tds_survey_software.htm )

So...first I try to establish a connection between elta and radio. Thus I power up elta and dls70 radio, then I set elta to: 0 (remote control) -> CONN.
I have proper serial number of radio set in elta options and I try to connect to that radio.

As you can see on the movie when I power up the radio, the yellow lamp (OPERATE) lights up.
When I press CONN (in elta menu) the display shows:
No connection-> Initialising the radio->Creating connection,
On the radio the (RECEIVE) diode starts flashing but nothing more happens.

Here is the movie:

Does anyone have experience with that stuff?
I would connect it with elta CU and georadio 600 but my elta is first generation (before joint venture with geodimeter, spectra etc.)
