Yes A Tape Would Be More Accurate
And not blow out the instrument either from too strong a return signal.
Actually the angle would be worse than the distance.
Minimum focal length is about 3'.
Paul in PA
The manual says, never shoot under 75'. (Use a tape)
How many people obey that one?
But this is one of my favorite pranks to pull on my instrument-man!
You know, when he's set up over a mag nail that's 0.20' inside the EP, and I HAVE to get the shot perpendicular to the gun...
The readout will say: 12.07...42.18...9.99...11.32...208.74...0.04
I just saw this floating around /r/geospatial; Are you stalking me? Upvotes!:good: for you!
You know that you are a little too close when:
You are told you are at the right distance but need to move 2' right, and that takes you 2/3 of the way around the gun.
The instrument man waves you to go farther away, and he accidentally slaps you in the face.
You go to move 0.02 right, and you bump a leg of the gun.
The gunner says "I can't find you, where are you?" so you have to tap him on the shoulder.
