Just a quick post before I hit the road, traffic is going to be glorious with a winter storm descending on my travel path.
Got all feathers soothed and an apology email of sorts from abovementioned engineer. He said his comments were off the cuff in the field and just took on a life of their own as company policy from all the other players, who all heard what they wanted to hear, rather than the facts of the matter.
Tomorrow is going to be loads of fun. Everyone have a great Sunday.
I was out on Christmas Eve, doing a small topo at an emergency remediation site on Nantucket Sound in Yarmouth. I assume that an oil tank ruptured and that's why the house was lifted and the underlying soils removed. I'm not 100% sure since I never asked because it wasn't important to me. But this is what happens if you do have a ruptured oil tank.
I went there on Thursday to establish vertical and horizontal control, recon, ya know... But it was blowing an ugly 30 knots and raining so I figured I'd just coem back the next when the forecast was more cooperative.
But on Christmas morning we woke up to another beautiful day, so we took the dogs down tot he beach at Crosby Landing, about a mile down the road... SWMBO (Dawn) made this gorgeous icelandic sweater, out of the yarn I picked when we were in Icland, for my Christmas present!!
Doing some chores around the land, but I have zero surveying work at this time for the first time in 13 years.

Hi Don,
How's the Republic doing today? It stopped snowing here about 9:30AM this morning but the wind is still horning at 30+ knots. It's hard to tell how snow we got with the wind blowing the snow around. My guess is about 12". Oh, I just looked out the window and saw a patch of blue sky.
1 job right after Thanksgiving, and then nothing until last week. I had 10 lot surveys come in, all closing before 12/31. Nice little Christmas present.
Working today???>> floyd
Floyd,
it's blowing and blowing, with some arctic sea smoke mixed in (snow). We had gusts in excess of 70 mph since yesterday afternoon but by some miracle the power has remained on!!
The north facing beaches are getting hammered. I was very surprised on our Christmas walk how much has been eaten away on the Bay side....
Getting colder by the minute....
