I probably file sixty or more RW documents a month with exhibits in a five or six county area. I'm not sure how many folks ever really get to look at these after they're filed. They probably just get buried with all the other fodder that is filed daily. So sometimes I get a notion to put some "flair" on these docs, probably just out of boredom and my twisted sense of humor.

Since Oklahoma requires surveyors to place a north arrow and state a "Base of Bearing" on all surveys I thought this might just fit the bill:

Let's hope that dusty old Mick has a sense of humor. He should be proud to be recorded for posterity in Oklahoma. 😉

Seems your north arrow might be leaning a bit too far to the right for Mr McMillan's approval. Nice attempt at conformance, though. 😉

That's all fine, but I need to mention that I have just received this email from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and Survey License Recording:

Dear Mr. McMillan,

We have become aware through our diligent program of Oklahoma survey monitoring that you have been attempting to herd some of our Oklahoma registrants into practices unacceptable to this department. We realize that you are in Texas and so cannot know that in Oklahoma the use of "Monument as Noted" is unnecessary as it is assumed that there was a good quality railroad spike or PK nail in place and hence no further description is necessary. It is in fact poor practice to waste library space on such descriptions when "point found" covers the general case.

Thank you for your attention,

Respectfully,

Emmett Gene Dillworth, Director

I like the " is unnecessary as it is assumed" part.

[sarcasm]We all know that to assume something is far better than to actually detail something out.[/sarcasm]

Ha!

That has to be the first email I have ever seen signed with an X. LOL.

As for Paden, it looks plausible but since it's a screen shot I won't believe it until I see a certified paper copy.

Hilarious lunchtime humor on the part of both parties.

I learnt the word "agrimensore" from an illegal concrete finisher named Gustavo Hernandez-Garcia. Gus was a philosopher, wise beyond his years, who found his way north of El Rio Grande due to a misunderstanding with La Policía in Morcillo, a little town outside of Durango where he was raised.

Gus was my survey helper for two or three years. He taught me español and I taught him all I knew about mujeres norteamericanas.
