Anyone use a SD card in a ranger 500x? I would like to have wifi and not buy a new controller right now.

If you use this set up what brand of SD card do you use?

I think the 500x already has the wifi. I could be wrong though.

The TDS Ranger 500X came with wi-fi standard. The wi-fi chip is on the main PCB that is common to the ranger 500x and TSC2. The Spectra 500X had wi-fi as an option.

If you have the Spectra model they make a CF card with wi-fi, not sure how much it is from Trimble though, I've never sold one. A quick google search showed models between $75 and $125. A lot cheaper than a new Ranger 3.

He's right. I'll also add that it will destroy your battery life.

Pin,

I am only offering a suggestion/information, and not trying to be argumentative in any way.

When I bought my Ranger, I believe, and I could be wrong, that there were a few different options available. There was a 300 NX, a 300X, and a 500NX, and a 500X. I could be wrong on the 500NX option. The way I understood it, the NX versions did not have the bluetooth or wifi options. It has been about 3 1/2 years since I bought mine, though. One of my buddies has the 300NX, and his does not have bluetooth or wifi.

I hope the card works for you. I wish you the best of luck.

Jimmy

I quoted you straight from the TDS Ranger service manual. Regardless,if you do not currently have Wi-Fi, your option is a CF wi-fi card or an SD Eye-fi card. I know Trimble supports the CF option, not sure about the eye-fi option. Good luck..
