I'm heading on a week vacation to the big island. There are no bottles of hand sanitizer available in town now. I went into our bulk storage closet and found three, SWMBO teaches and her immune system must be world class by now, plus she keeps things like that around. I wish I had a couple dozen of them, I could pay for the trip selling them at the airport. $100 a bottle sounds about right.?ÿ

I debated renting a car, but my son said there was no need, now I'm looking and for the 11th when I get there the cars are down to $18 a day, they were $70 a day a few weeks ago when I last checked. I said that was too high a price, being cheap and waiting paid off this time.?ÿ

They recently returned from down under on empty planes, hopefully I will have that same experience. Empty airports, short lines, vacant seats, sounds like my kind of trip.

Travel safely!!!

The lady who cuts my hair is taking her daughter and granddaughter to Disneyland this week. As of last Thursday afternoon, the longest wait time for any ride was 16 minutes. My guess is that it will be even shorter this week.

We went to Disneyland about 8 weeks after the 9/11 attacks. It was literally empty. My daughters rode rides, then rode again without getting off. It was sort of eerie, but after about 1/2 day (spent 3 days there), we got used to it. We have pictures taken on Main Street in DL where we are the only people in the picture other than Disney employees.

@spmpls

Yeah, I bet it's empty, mob panic is an interesting human trait.

Disney World in Orlando is open as well as all the other attractions. Airport still crazy. Central Florida is waiting for the Spring Breakers. Toilet paper low - newest hot item baby diapers (or nappies for those in the UK). ?????ÿ

I'll find out Wednesday if the panic is real. Should be an interesting series of flights.

And it is said to be much less effective than soap and water.

And the masks, those don't keep you getting anything, I guess the can stop you from giving it, but not from getting it. I didn't look, but I'd imagine they are sold out also. I do have a bunch of them in my paint bucket in the garage, maybe I can sell them at the airport. I've got a 5 hour layover.

My fear of travel now stems from not wanting to be shipped to some AFB to live in a plastic wrapped hangar for 14 days.

And only because you were caught on camera passing by some carrier who they still aren't sure has Corona or the regular flu.

Just got back from Big Island a week ago before they had any cases show up there. They've got a couple now and the man from Oahu who contracted it flew back on Alaska Airlines to Oahu from Washington State. Our flight back here was packed and fella sitting a couple of rows in front of me was hacking and sneezing and now both myself and my significant other are sick. Probably the flu which is rampant here but no known cases of Corona in Alaska, yet. Of course if you wanted to get yourself tested, you're pretty much SOL. I'm thrilled to be done with flying for the time being.

Great weather, had a grand time. Big Island's my favorite. Getting back home to the frozen north, drained of color this time of year, has been a bit depressing.

@paden-cash One of those AFBs is REAL close to home for me.  My wife actually works for a defense contractor on the campus.

@bill93 The big run now is for Isopropyl alcohol greater than 90% alcohol.  Recipes for home made hand sanitizer calls for alcohol of greater than 90% and Aloe Vera gel.

@bill93

Most people don't realize surgical soap is not only 100x better than hand sanitizer, but also readily available and reasonably priced at drug stores.

When 190 grain alcohol will not sanitize it.

Oh yeah, freaking corn dryer silo is 50 feet from the back door.
