Nate, assuming that is your son. He looks a lot like mine. I might have to take a pic and send it to you. You must be almost as good looking as me 😀
I would call it an anchor with 1 chain link
Have a great day!
Search the area
There are probably two or three others around that used to be connected to a tower to keep it upright.
It's the center 1/4.
Well, maybe, but it is sort of vaguely shaped like a question mark so maybe, maybe not.
It is called an EYE BOLT around here.
That looks like a sure fire hum dinger of one.
Power pole guy anchor? I have found plenty of abandoned ones in subdivisions near new power poles. Schondstedt goes, "wwwwEEEEEEEEEEEEE" and I get all excited for nothing.....:-D
Thanks everybody, this is my condensed combination answer
OK, it is now officially named:
"Found Eye Bolt, with one link of chain, protruding 6" above the surface, made from 3/4" diameter steel, and link is 5" x 2", with orange and white paint, and is solidly set in the ground, by Weyerhaeuser"
Then, I add my witness trees, and the note that the Weyerhaeuser blazed and painted white line runs East and North.
Thank you for your contributions, suggestions, and ideas.

Nate,
I would check the corner card. It could have been set by Dierks Lumber and Coal Company. Weyerhaeuser Co. surveyors were fans of Berntsen's "G" series of drive in piston monuments.

good final description except... I would not say set by xxxx unless I had proof that xxxx set it.
As in " per corner document or card or plat...."
Plat now reads:
NE corner NW1/4-SW1/4
Fd. 3/4" Eye Bolt, with one link on top
with orange and white paint.
1.) 270-1/2° 12.89' 10" Sweet Gum
2.) 148° 24.82' 13" Black Gum
White Painted Line runs N & E
I did not go and check it's pedigree... It has been here about 30+ yrs, and before that it was a pine knot. So, it probably is a location that is 50+ yrs old.
Thanks all.
Nate
Plat now reads:
Does it monument the W 1/16 C-C? I prefer to use the proper labels for the corners instead of a string of aliquot parts, think I'm a minority.
jud
Plat now reads:
> Does it monument the W 1/16 C-C?
If anyone were to describe a corner like that around here, the title companies would have a stroke!
Plat now reads:
Steve, I wish that title companies would reject it. Around here, I think they would reject the call to the West Center 1/16th!!
N
Plat now reads:
W 1/16 C-C ???
Plat now reads:
Yeah, I was using prose, for the non PLS ers.
Plat now reads:

they should, because I think you described the C-W 1/16th....+o(
Plat now reads:
OK, maybe. I try to talk the vernacular of the people I am talking to.
In the south, they say:
"Y'all come ba'ayk an seeea us naow, ya hear?" And I know what it means.
They used to say that to me at the local grocery store, and I'd tell them not to worry, I'll get hungry again!
