Dewar's? Ewww ... I prefer White Horse for a blend
White Horse has a LOT more character than Dewar's. I think it's smoother, too.

I'll take my Tennessee sipping whiskey over scotch all day long. I take mine neat but chilled from the frig or freezer.

If you're going for that sort of flavor, then I'll take 10-year Rip Van Winkle.

Glenfiddich 12 year is my favorite reasonably priced scotch, but even that is too pricey sometimes. I think it runs around $50 per bottle around here. I still enjoy Dewars when times are tough!

Gledfiddich 12 is a single malt scotch. For the good stuff, I prefer Macallan 12 or Dahlwinnie 15 if you're going for single malts.

I don't know about that stuff but I wouldn't mind some 15 year old Old Ezra in the coffin. Don't know if they still do the coffin thing.
I really don't know much about scotch but I imagine some "Louis Trey" (sp?) might be up your alley. Best get out the checkbook! That might be a cognac though. I don't remember. Last cognac I had was some stuff up in Alaska (circa '84).
I'll still take my TN whiskeys.

My cognac is J.F. Martell cordon bleu ~ $110/bottle. Good stuff; I drink a bottle once every 5-6 years; not an every day spirit.

Actually when I'm not distract by advertising featuring hot brunettes I drink Famous Grouse, it's primarily a blend of Highland Park and The Macallan

Lagavulin 16 is the real man's single malt Scotch.

Agreed. If you drink too much of Lagavulin 16, it will make the hair fall OFF of your chest. Might have a curly beard, though ...
Long Story Short...

That's putting it mildly...I had another death in the family and it's been hell ever since!! :-O That's why I haven't hardly been around here. Not ignoring you guys, just have a LOT going on at the moment.
We can't say what is going on in detail due to this being a public forum, but if any of you want to know, just email/PM Wendell or I and we'll fill you in.

If I was to enumerate the list in it's entirety folks might start to plan an intervention. There's some good local hooch being made these days

John Prine
> Prine has written some of the most poignant words of the late 20th. Century
Indeed Paden, there is no one who can touch him. When our daughter was little I used to waltz her around the living room to "Paradise", one of my favorites. We'd play it over and over.
Prine played here in town last summer and during one of his chatting interludes between songs (he is the king of the raconteurs, I'd pay good money just to hear him spin yarns) he was talking about sight seeing around the area. Mind you, the town of Prineville is 40 miles away. So he's clicking off place names "... and we saw the town of Redmond, and the Deschutes River is pretty and Bend is nice and ...Prineville... well, you shouldn't have..."

(it was encouraging to see a lot of non-gray hair in the crowd. I have hope for our youth)
Here's a an article you might find of interest about the back story ona few of his songs
> I'd still like to have a bowler one day. I remember a movie (Thomas Crown - Pierce Brosnan??) about some thief swapping brief cases amongst a bunch of guys all wearing the same suits and all sporting bowlers. It reminded me of an MC Escher print.
Bowlers do convey an aura of sophistication and elegance:

I was trying to find a clip of Stan Laurel doing his famous hat trick for you E - where he sticks his finger in his mouth, blows real hard, and his derby raises up off his head, but surprisingly I couldn't find one so this tribute will have to suffice:
