I wanted to acknowledge all of the veterans on this site for everything they've done and the sacrifices that they and their family's have made. I never served but Alaska has one of the highest percentage of veterans for the population in the country and I've gotten to know quite a few. Several of my mentors along the way got their start in surveying in the military. I can only begin to count the many ways that I've benefited from their service and I just wanted to say thank you.
Carry on.

The largest city in the county held a Veteran's Day parade today with the Grand Marshall being my friend who turned 100 this past June.?ÿ He was 88 miles from Berlin, fighting every day, when the Germans surrendered.?ÿ Later, he was assigned to the Military Police to guard POW's.?ÿ He never talked about his experiences.?ÿ But, he was one of the most mild-mannered and jovial people I will ever meet.?ÿ
gratitude is a good thing and something I hope gets passed on to future generations.?ÿ Someone sent me?ÿ Cardinal Dolan's address to the Naval Academy cadets a few days ago and was put in simple terms.?ÿ Kids first words today are 'mine'?ÿ and 'no'.?ÿ 'Thank you' only comes after prodding by a parent.?ÿ He pointed out how what JFK said about 'what you can do for this country' is now 'what this country can do for you'.?ÿ
Wendell, not political as above crosses party lines.?ÿ plus, this is veterans day and I am thankful for the opportunity to serve.
1st)?ÿ Thanks to all the vets for their service.
2.) Anyone in this country who doesn't think they owe a debt of gratitude to our veterans can pound sand.
