Encountering a new problem with our controller. Seem to be having problems with the "align screen" function on our controller. When I go to align screen routine and pick the five alignment points, it returns me back to the align screen routine. It's obviously not working and the screen has lost calibration. When in surveying apps and SOME Windows apps, it seems to be picking about 1/4" below where I tap the screen. In the "START" menu, the Today, Calendar, Contacts, Explorer, Messaging, Controller, and windows media are not calibrated correctly, While, just below, the Programs, Settings, and Help seem to pick fine. Other menus may or may not work correctly but this is what I noticed thus far. Would appreciate any suggestions.

When you do screen alignment, try drawing very small circles around each of the target points, instead of just clicking on them.

hate to tell you, but that is what our screen was doing on our TSC2. Couldn't access the bottom of the screen. Tried calibration and would do it repeatedly until it would hold. Have you replaced the display? If not... it is time. You can do it yourself for $50'ish or send it in for $800.

Care to expand on the 50ish option?

Aloha, there are couple sellers on ebay would replace the screen for $370 or so. I repaired mine few months ago. Here is an old discussion about DIY option See more at: http://baselineforum.com/index.php?mode=thread&id=219767#p219788

Yes please do, I have a screen on a tsc2 that needs to be replaced, at least it taught me how to do every command in access using shortcut keys, which have become habit now, so I hardly use the touch screen except for when stalking out from a dxf or shape file

I've had this happen on a TSCe as well as a TSC2. Before you go spending money on a new screen, do a little cleaning first. Every time it happened, there was a piece of dirt or foreign material between the case and the screen. Most of the time you cant see it because it is under the lip of the case that surrounds the screen. Try a little compressed air, that usually worked for me. Just a grain of dirt or odd piece of grass seemed to put just enough pressure on the screen to cause malfunctions.

I would do the cleaning first. Then if that doesn't work. I found a place in China that sells the screen & digitizer for $50-ish. I did searches on EBay. Showed up in about 2 weeks, I believe. Then I sat down and opened up the TSC2 (way out of Warranty) and put in the new screen myself. Took less than an hour and it works great. Good Luck.

Don't think that you can resolve touchscreen issues by going to the TSC3. We bought four of them last December and all of the screens have now failed. Thankfully all were under warranty but still a total pain. We keep an extra collector around just to use when the others are in for repair.
