Designed by architect C.Th. Sørensen, these allotment gardens are located in Naerum, a suburban district in the outskirts of Copenhagen. These oval gardens are utility gardens and recreational areas Danish people use during the summer. About the shape of the gardens, Sørensen explained, “Neighbors always argue about the shared hedge. How should it be cut? How high should it be? Here they each get their own hedge with a no-man’s land in between. Then they don’t have to argue about it!”
