Did Trimble come through and give an update to TGO to correct the issue where it won't process baselines any longer?
NOPE! And they said that they AIN'T gonna either!

The problem is probably nothing more than the dimension on an array that they'd have to re-dimension in the software code.
I guess they have the right to do it. And I guess we end users have the right to buy what we think best suits our needs in the future, all things considered--if you know what I mean.
I suspect the problem is far more complex, paticularly since it involves rewriting code that is well over a decade old in a programming language not actively in use. Assuming there were resources able to patch the code, fixing one programming problem often creates worse ones. Afer all, the whole package would need to be reworked to run efficiently inside Windows 7. Tried the TGO Feature Code editor in Windows 7?
Is it a PR nightmare? Sure it is, but given the likely risk analysis Trimble did, the decision not to patch TGO may prove in the long term to be the correct one.
I don't agree with some of the marketing and support moves that Trimble makes... the decision years ago to separate the survey and mapping divisions - which ensured that I couldn't continue to use survey grade receivers in mapping applications was a major irritant - is a big one. I think they made the right call here.
It might be 10 years old, but I bought it in about 2006, and I expected it to last longer.
If your Trimble support is current for TGO you get a new TBC (for free). For those not on support you need to buy TBC. I bought the Standard TBC ($495) with dongle.
I got it installed and have had some success getting things to go. Some of it looks just like TGO, other things are a bit different. It's probably a better program, it's just old dogs don't get all whippy about learning new tricks but you gotta do what you gotta do.
So the DVD comes with version 2.5. When installed tells you to upgrade to 2.51. When installed tells you to upgrade to 2.6. Out in the DSL boonies where I'm presently at it all took about three hours to get it all loaded up. Now I just gotta learn a few new tricks and I'll be good as new.
I have download a .dat file which came in good with the point name. I've downloaded a Survey Controller which worked fine. I've converted a TGO project to a TBC project, went fine. Now I'm trying to get the corridor feature to go so I can stake out roads and pipelines and such. I suppose by next year at this time it will just be normal (I hope).
So now I gotta decide whether to keep support current or not!
I don't think they made the right call price wise for the advanced version for the current users of Trimble equipment without a maintance/subscription plan. "The PR nightname". Let's not forget that TGO was only discontinued on Dec 31 2010, that's only a period of three business quarters.
$3,000 is a lot of money for someone who just needs a software to carry on processing and adjusting its L1/L2 data from older Trimble GPS equipment as long as possible.
And yes, the new software is great to use, I like it a lot. But my roading, quantities and cut/fill maps, I prefer to do them somewhere else. So what I am getting for $3,000? TGO with a nicer and more pleasant interface and a few extra bells and whistles.
