I had already requested an upgrade from 2.4 to 2.5 from my dealer before the TGO problem happened. But, I have not yet received the upgrade, so he provided me with a 30 day upgrade code.
Well, I was in California, no easy way to get a 2.1 GB download. Once back in the office yesterday, I downloaded it, and proceeded to install it on Windows 7 64 bit desktop machine. Everything went OK until I tried to put in the 19 digit license code. If I have the dongle inserted, I got the message that it is a software license upgrade, not a hardware key, or something like that. If I tried without the dongle, the upgrade button disappears, and there is only a cancel button.
I tried it on my laptop (windows XP pro), and it worked fine, it accepted the code and is now authorized for 30 days. But, when I went back to the desktop this AM, and tried again, it says code already used.
So, now I am stuck with a demo version on my desktop, which is where I do all my work. I used to have a working 2.4 version, but not now.
I wish I could he help you out.
Trimble is going to loose alot of customers over this issue.
John
I don't know if this will help but it came from my Trimble dealer when he sent me a demo disk. I had never had TBC in the past so my situation was different than your's.
I've spent the last 2 days getting familiar with TBC and it is ok but there is a lot of stuff that isn't anything different than TGO. I hope they fix TGO. I'm semi-retired and have no plans to purchase $3000 worth of new software.
From by Trimble dealer:
With TBC open, go to “Help” and “About”
Select the “License” tab
Under the License Manager, tab the “Upgrade”
Enter your code and hit “Upgrade”
Sorry the images didn't paste.
That worked fine on the laptop, but the windows 7 64 bit desktop didn't work the same. Either the "upgrade" button was missing (if I didn't have the dongle plugged in) or I got an erro message (if I did have the dongle plugged in).
Another Trimble dealer (not my local dealer) just sent me a new code, I am going to try that. If it doesn't work, I will just install on my win XP pro desktop, which I still use quite a bit (but which is slower and has other issues).
