I see Trimble have just released the SX12 (robotic total station / scanner). Presumably it replaces the SX10. And presumably since they didn't sponsor me a SX10 unit, a SX12 will be arriving soon for me to trial.

There doesn't appear to be a lot of difference between the SX10 and the SX12 - spot size @100m is the same, reflectorless range is the same, scan rate is the same. The cameras are a little better, and the green laser is probably great for mining and tunneling applications, but I don't see much other than that. At least, not yet...
