Anybody use trimble scs900? Thinking about buying a collector that has this software. I'm sure it has all kinds of staking functionality, but what is the traversing like? What format does the raw data end up as? I have used survey controller, and survey pro in the past. I much prefer the survey controller format for reducing raw data and using least squares. Will the software allow for doubling of angles?
Any info is appreciated.
SCS900 is not a surveying grade software, it is geared for contractors doing layout. It has basic topo collection, but not geared toward traversing.
My impression of SCS900 is that it's best use would be for a construction company with 1 guy who does all the calculations and oversees a bunch of grade checkers who only stake what they are given. Maybe it's just me, but after using Survey Controller for years, doing anything other than staking a point in SCS900 seems like it takes several more steps to accomplish, especially roadwork.

Its really good for that, and makes good toilet paper in a pinch 😀

I would stick with Survey Controller if you like it. We use SCS900 for heavy civil layout with our stakers and it DOES work great for us. But, if your primary use is anything other than a road layout, I would hesitate. SCS900 is almost a "water-ed down" version of a quality surveying software, due to the fact that its main intent is for field grade checkers, not qualified land surveyors. I'm not saying the accuracy of the software is in question, just that the intent of the software isn't designed for traversing and turning angles (works great for alignment offset, 3D surface vertical offset, and stockpile quantity survey). I have never run this software with any type of TS but would be willing to bet it can, with the proper installed module, which is of extra cost.
If you already have Survey Controller, I would keep it. You already own it. There's no learning curve. And you know it works.
