I am sure I saw a post about my problem a few years back----I bought a 5600dr in 2001, and the radio is getting somewhat "beat-up" and I wanted to replace it and (dummy that I am) bought a "blue light" radio (2.5 MHz) on E-bay which the tech @ CSDS informs me will not work with my gun.
Anyone out there heard of a fix for my problem? If not, would anyone be interested in a "blue light' radio---- CHEAP? Or -- have a 'red light" radio for sell or trade?

You probably got a Geo Radio 2.4 Ghz.

The older radios are prohibited now due to some frequency reassignment the FCC did a few years back.
Probably get one real cheap. CSDS probably has a bunch laying around.

I've seen them bring $600 recently on eBay.

I think that is what they are advertised at, but they don't appear to sell.

I've got a working "red" light radio I'd swap with you.
