I'm trying to update the Inst.dat and Rods.dat files via the TRANSLEV WebTools utility, because the instrument and rods used in my project were added recently. The WebTools update doesn't provide much feedback, but it's claiming success when in fact the files don't update. NGS staff tells me that the instrument and rods were added on 08/16/11, but my Inst.dat and Rods.dat files stubbornly remain dated 05/01/10.

I'm thinking this might be a Windows 7 UAC problem, in which the WebTools update utility thinks it has installed the files when in reality Windows has blocked the overwrite. I know that Windows doesn't like to allow modifications to the Program Files (x86) folder without explicit admin approval, which probably gets lost in the interaction between TRANSLEV and the OS.

I guess I'll try installing TRANSLEV into a different (user-controlled) folder, but if anyone has current Inst.dat and Rods.dat files they want to send me, that would be helpful if my plan doesn't work.

Thanks!

Installing to a non-Program Files folder did the trick -- the files update successfully. No need to send files!

Thanks.
