My legacy topcon gst 325a will not boot up when the power button is pressed. The batteries are charged and the instrument is level. Never had this issue before. There is no "trouble shooting" in the manual.
does anyone have any clues ?

A Topcon Hiper LIte+ I was using regularly ended its life in the same sudden way, a few years back. Going strong until it just wouldn't wake up one morning. It was past it's support life and the Topcon dealer shop wouldn't touch it.
can you clarify what you mean by "boot up"?
are you saying nothing lights up on the keyboard screen at all? Might be battery contact oxide issue?

I discovered that the BT56Q battery was dead. This will be shipped somewhere for re-celling.
I hope to get both batteries re-celled soon. Trouble finding a place to send then in northern California
For battery recells my go to is surveybattery.com. They have done several, of various sorts, for me over the years, all have been turned around promptly and have worked great.
