Current setup for the last decade or more is Topcon 800 series robotic, satel radios, and TDS Recon- survey pro, about 10+ years old.
I use a fix backsight to check the instrument zero and to shot new control forward and reverse (survey pro-multiple side shot). Last couple of months I have been noticing the instrument is having a hard time locking on the backsight at distance of 550-800'. In the past at those distances, the instrument would usually lock without an issue.
I has wondering if a setting got change by mistake, needs a cleaning, or worn tracking part. Has anyone have similar problems in the past, what was the solution. Thank you.
I have the same instrument GPT8000 which is the reflector-less version about 10 years old as well but use the RC-2 for communication. I have noticed also recently that the tracking and locating of the prism is just not performing as good as it used too. I had it serviced and adjusted recently. It has given great service and has been a workhorse with no issues over the years but I am slowly coming to the realisation that it will have to be upgraded soon.
