I have a Topcon GTS-304 and my EDM has stopped working.

I can hear the normal noises inside the barrel assembly when I try to measure a distance, but it never measures a distance and it's not even making the red light that actually shoots the distance. The "C" on the LCD display never moves.

It worked fine last time I used it (it's been a couple years), and it's just been sitting since then.

Although I'm licensed, I'm not a practicing land surveyor and I just want to use it for unofficial surveying on my own property.

Can anyone help me out please??

Russ

There emitter may have failed or something is blocking the light.

I was using a Zeiss Elta that the infrared emitter became nearly 2 deg off target. The gun just kept shooting until it would shutoff.
A Topcon 3B had a spec of something to find its way to partially cover the emitter. That resulted in an error code for low reception.

It needs to visit a topcon technician. Call around an check who may have parts on the shelf.
