Anybody use this model total station in the past? I think it was first introduced in 1996. Any comments, feedback, or experience?

Thanks!

I put many miles on a 313 and it was one of the best instruments I have ever used. It would be one generation newer than a 300 series though. Parts might be tough to get these days.

In my heavy construction world, the 303 was a true workhorse. Used a couple of them to build a few $Billion worth of power plants, steel mills, and mills over the years.
Totally tough and reliable.

Loved them back when they came out. Ran one for years with nary a problem. But now they are getting older, the parts are getting hard to come by and the wiring is starting to turn brittle. Still would not turn one down if the price was right, but would be wary that may not be as good as it used to be.

Will they let you try it out and see if you like it?

I have two 303's that still turn in excellent closures.

The only reason they aren't in daily use, they aren't reflectorless and therefore are not the gun of choice for the remaining crew (me).

Excellent guns, just keep them calibrated.

Rick

Topcon GTS-310 Series - CORRECTION

I guess I need to clarify. The series and model # is a little confusing at times. I am looking at a Topcon 310 series total station. It comes in a 300, 311, 312 and 313 models. I am looking at the 300 model, which is a 1" gun:

Minimum reading

GTS-300:0.5"/1" (0.1mgon/0.5mgon)

GTS-311:1"/5" (0.2mgon/1mgon)

GTS-312:1"/5" (0.2mgon/1mgon)

GTS-313:1"/5" (0.2mgon/1mgon)

Accuracy

GTS-300: 1" (0.2mgon)

GTS-311: 2" (0.6mgon)

GTS-312: 3" (1mgon)

GTS-313: 5" (1.5mgon)

(Standard deviation based on DIN18723)

Topcon GTS-310 Series - CORRECTION

If it's in good shape, that should be a great gun.

The 313 was a pleasure to use.

This instrument had the best battery life of any instrument that I ever used.

one of the main "pros" of the Topcon TS, IMO.

Used GTS 301D for 8 years, in my opinion that was as close to prefect as it gets.

Used GTP 310 for 10 years, it ws good, but never did measure up to the 310D.
