How do I connect the battery charger to my total station, gts229. It appears that the port does not match the battery charger cable end.

Are you trying to charge the battery, or trying to power the instrument?
I am not familiar with that instrument, but I cannot run my Topcon Instruments with the battery charger.

Trying to charge the total station. The wire that connects does not have the same plug type as the plug in port of the total station. Everything I have read says it is the correct charger so I am unsure as to why it won't work

Is the battery on that a BT 52QA?
The charging port for the battery should be ON the battery, not on the instrument I believe.

Like Jimmy says you do not power the TS. Remove the battery and charge the battery.
