Hi there:

Anyone here know how to reconfigure the vanilla .dat converter in the Topcon 6000 data collector??ÿ You can have it spit out a .dat format file.?ÿ It seems to work, but doesn't give descriptions or vertical angle, and I was hoping there was a way to change the format so it works for us.?ÿ Can't seem to find it so far though.?ÿ Thanks!

?ÿ

It appears you are using a Topcon FC6000?ÿ with Magnet Field software?

If yes, then you can either try adding a style for codes and notes. Or choose Exchange to Raw data, ASCII and build your own format.

Magnet Field, yes.?ÿ In speaking with the Microsurvey folks, they tell me that there isn't a converter on their end (like for most other formats) and their solution is to use Topcon's crappy .dat converter.?ÿ They told me I should complain to Topcon.?ÿ Yeah right - I'll see how that works out for me.?ÿ They had a couple work arounds that I can probably use, but would add quite a bit to my procedure, and introduce some extra human error.

?ÿ

I'll try making a custom export, like you suggest and see what I come up with.?ÿ?ÿ

?ÿ

Thanks!

Just got a call from a technical representative from Microsurvey who is well aware of the issue.?ÿ Super nice guy and seemed to want to help.?ÿ Whoo hoo!

Sounds like I still need to pursue the custom format, so I'll see what I come up with.
