Had a rural job with several old surveys with expected sufficient marks remaining to make a straightforward job.
First off find an old pipe buried 10" according to Notes. Metal detector went beserk.
Wow. Haven't checked to see who last surveyor was in vicinity.
We did find the pipe, just a bit deeper and off to side.
Then an old spike between some old buildings.
Again metal detector confirmed so down went the spade and out came the usual neat sod.
Cleaning hole and it showed how close we'd come to a shower.
The owner was yakking away and didn't know the pipe was there.
Phew. One of those thankful moments. A double thankful.
And it just kept going with old marks popping up with regularity.
A long rewarding day.
First day at work after 10 days off with the flu.
What a return to work.
Days like that make all the "bad" days worth it.
I found a Rolex once and I believe I remember it being a Sub-Mariner. I found it right next to a concrete monument in the Kennesaw area. The crystal was cracked and moisture had gotten it but I thought I could score me a usable Rolex with just repair costs so I went to a couple of jewelry stores that sold Rolex watches. 2 of 3 said it was a knockoff.

Probably a blessing in disguise. You don't want to even ASK how much the real ones cost to refurbish now days!

Ugh. Welcome back to the land of the living.
I was about to ask what's with all those flowers in mid November, but then I realized where you are it's finally spring.

On this side of the Tasman, we seem to have skipped spring and gone straight into summer.
Getting temps of around 27 (that's a fraction above 80 to you 'merkins) - which is what we normally see late Jan / early Feb
Are we looking at an old plumb bob in the first photo?
@Jim Frame
Yes an old plumbob, complete with string..
I tried teasing the string out but to no avail.
The point has badly corroded.
It will sit on my other memorabilia shelf. (more surveying junk as some girls would say here)
@vern flowers just Daisies.
Definitely spring weather.
Like New Zealand, some parts too hot too soon.
The shimmer yesterday was like summer.
