for you metric fans
I remember someone asking about these weeks ago
What's a meter?
🙂

The length of the path travelled by light in a vacuum in 1/299 792 458 seconds
We've got some vacuums here. Wife had one... It ate a piece of metal, and died... And my watch is not real accurate...
It's also the nemesis of construction plans.

An evil invention designed to cause chaos and misery;)
Hmmm - decimal parts of a unit. What a concept.

It's the gismo that tells how much water, gas or electicity was used for the month.

Nate, Buy it and find out.
Nate the surveyor ask, "What's a meter(metre)
It the official length for distance in the United States.

The chord of a one mil curve at 1000 meters...
22$
How could anyone pass in that.
I was reading a report from the USC&GS dated 1896 (give or take a year) and there wasn't a single use of feet or Fahrenheit. I noticed on USGS maps, at least post civil war, have always had metric graphic scales.
Someone asked "if we should go metric". And I thought we always have been.

Like tenths and hundredths of a foot, or links?

A central angle of 1 mil, at 1000 m radius, only subtends 0.9817 m.
(Mils aren't the same as milli-radians)
1 cubic centimeter of water weighs exactly 1 gram and displaces 1 mL.
Now. What the hell is in inch?

When the kill radius of your cannon is 20 meters you can lose a little precision here and there. Kill radius minus 1 meter = error budget ..

If you are introduced to a woman you had never seen before, you "meter".

I didn't think this was a ballistics thread.
