NZ is ahead of NA in many ways./

Derek,
You forgot the Sarcasm font on your remarks.B-)
One disadvantage to NZ is that we are becoming buried in paperwork, adminsitrivia and bureaucrapcy. We aren't yet as bad as Europe, but are well on the way.
But we are really really really busy with Earthquake rebuild work here in Christchurch. We have half a city to reconstruct.
And yes some of the rebuilds are bringing up encroachment issues.
Fortunately, at a get down and dirty practical level there are some positive signs, with good cooperation between authorities, engineers and contractors.
Now would be a good time for any metric-speaking surveyors wanting a working holiday Down Under
I can speak Metric, as well as chains, rods, poles, and even smoots.
