The disk did fail, so we were unable to recover data

computer crashes solve a lot of problems
gets rid of desktop clutter...
no more dead links in your "favorites"...
no more questions about which file is the most current...
ends complacency of having your various applications configured...

machine came back this am- almost back on my feet.
no raw data lost-
2 cad surveys partially lost.
1 topo drawing lost.
oh well - if that's the worst that happens today- things are ok. 🙂
