A county is doing a lease-purchase agreement with a local bank for a few million dollars to cover a complete heat and air rework on the County Courthouse which was construction nearly 60 years ago.?ÿ The bank did not like the description provided for where the Courthouse is located.?ÿ They need to have one of their high muckety-mucks stroll down the street and take a look at the plat of the original city as drawn up in the 1860's.?ÿ Along with Blocks 1-60 or so with lots there is one block simply labeled "Public Square".?ÿ That is where the 1904 County Courthouse was built and then replaced with the 1962 building.?ÿ It does not have a block number, lots or any of the other standard attributes of a city block other than being surrounded by city streets.?ÿ Perhaps they would like a metes and bounds description where the bounds are the four city streets.
Another nearby city has a "School Block" which has never been the site of a school.
I'd tell them they are free to write whatever they want and place it in their file!
ETA: Or how about, "The building that houses this recorded document!":)
Writing a metes and bounds document for a platted parcel is going backwards. The description is just Pubic Square of XXX town per plat recorded/filed at XXX.

What is their complaint, is the legal description too succinct to be deemed worthy of recognition on an legal instrument regarding a Municipal entity? ?????ÿ
@jitterboogie my boss has a recorded plat in Midland, Texas that indicates the streets are 52' wide pubic right-of-ways! ????
Following on from that other thread, what say someone says to the bank that they need to give better interest rates on my hard earned savings.
