Can’t for the life of me remember this…

What is the term for the hump formed at the edge of a field where a farmer throws rocks and the wind erosion hits the trees and falls.

Got a boundary where this is helping me see where the old woods line was and I wanted to call it out on the map.

Thanks!

I think “windrow berm” is what I’m going to call it…

Here’s a definition I found:

  1. a row of dry leaves, dust, etc., swept together by the wind.

Berm or windrow berm. A Furrow is the trench in which to place the seeds.

Terrace is also used. As an erosion control method.

Stones in areas were pulled from fields as they were plowed and planted. In many countries and here in certain areas of the USA they historically used to build walls or berms . Everything was utilized back then. Now we are so effective with equipment we often pile up or dig a hole and place unwanted materials in a different location. Then we need that spot for something so we do it again and again. One thing is for certain that those who tamed these lands put some thought into what they were doing for sure Back home there are areas along roads and creeks that have these old walls built up along them.
