I am having trouble with my touch screen when it gets about 35 degrees or lower. It is very, very frustrating.
What model Ranger are you using?

The cable is probably going bad. I've had similar problems with cables that appear to be in good shape. I think the wire insulation begins to crack in the winter months, when they are less flexible, causing shorts and wire separation. I use a radio shack db9/db9 serial cable to connect my data collector to a long range bluetooth radio and I'm lucky to get a year of them.
