I am using surveypro software in a trimble nomad controller with a trimble 5800 reciever. I have the account setup with wiscors. I am attempting to use a cell phone as my internet connection. I have the controller and the phone talking to each other. I have made the internet connection using the #777 number with the phone#@vzw3g.com password vzw. I can run the internet browser on the nomad and access web sites. In survey pro in the network setup I have wiscors.dot.wi.gov entered in and the port 2101. But when I hit connect in the survey pro software I get a message saying the number is not being answered. I also tried setting up a network using the 130.47.34.129 IP address but I get the same result. Does anybody out there have an idea as to what I need to do to get it to work?
No. I am not getting to the user name / password. I Don't think it is getting to the ip address. I am not sure if can contact the wiscors operators but I will check it out.
sounds like you are not getting logged in. In trimble access there is an option to see the log in a each start up or shut it off and it logs in automatically. Is there a setting in your survey style to prompt you to log in?????
A salesman had it working for a couple of minutes with his cell phone but was in a hurry to leave so didn't show me exactly what he did. I got a new cell phone a day after that. Used his network setup. But can't accomplish the connection to the wiscors site ?
No place to login. It has a screen where you pick the reciever. Tell it it is going to be windows networking for the corrections and setup the network which has a place to put the IP address and port. Then there is a button to hit to connect. When you do that it is suppose to connect to the website I guess. That is when I get the message the number dialed is not being answered?
Under your instrument settings you should see a "Data Modem" tab. Make sure that your data modem is set to the correct Windows Connection.
Under settings - a tab GNSS Receivers when picked displays your receivers the one I am using is - 5800 7921 - behind them I have a bluetooth icon- a globe icon which is what you get when your using windows networking or you have a radio symbol when you are using a base radio. So I think I have that correct. Behind that is a gear icon.
It would depend on what version you were using. If you are connecting to the internet via Windows Connection in Internet Explorer than I would bet it is a setting in Survey Pro. The little gear wheel to the side of your receiver should take you to that "Data Modem" tab. I'd recheck just to make sure. If that is set wrong, you having a much larger problem.
I think I may have zeroed in on the problem yesterday. After checking in with the wiscors admininstrator as suggested and finding out that I wasn't knocking on the door when I was trying to connect. He suggested that I try to access the wiscors.dot.wi.gov.:2101/ with my controller in internet explorer which I was connected to the internet through my verizon cell phone. Low and behold I could access other sites but not that one. After talking to my IT guy. He says he thinks it is a 2101 port access thing with Verizon. I am in the process of getting this corrected. Hopefully that is the problem.
The port was not the problem. The problem was with our data plan. They added something like hot spots to our data plan. Now we can access the site. So I think we may be good to go. It took a confrence call with 3 other people at verizon to figure that out.
