Do you think the world would still need land surveyors in 29 year's time?

Will all boundaries in the world be perfected with monumentation that will never go away and endure for all time in 2050?

Will land never be partitioned, merged or transferred after 2050?

Will there never be land disputes after 2050?

Will there never be any more construction after 2050?

Those are just a few examples off the top of my head; I'm sure there are more.

But until the answer to every single one is yes, there's going to be a need for surveyors.

I think we're adding something like a billion people to the planet every 12 years or so and last I check not much in the way of new land. Given potential sea level rise by 2050, good bet there will be less land and not more, so I guess I just don't see surveying going away short of some cataclysmic event.?ÿ?ÿ

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.

Surveyors will be around long after reporters, accountants, radiologists and psychologists will become obsolete.

If there is still blame to be placed in 2050, then yes, surveyors will still be around.?ÿ

The demise of boundary surveying will not come through any fault of the surveying profession.?ÿ It will be the result of some bill passed by the US Congress and signed by whomever is POTUS at the time.

Prior to a bill being passed requiring seat belts to be installed in new vehicles, people could purchase seat belts and install them in their own vehicles, just like air conditioners and radios.?ÿ That represented a tiny percentage of all vehicles on the road.?ÿ Suddenly, any manufacturer with the capability became a potential vendor to the auto industry.

Mandatory change is political.?ÿ Mandatory change is the only way boundary surveying will cease to exist.

?ÿ

100%. The need for and the practice of surveying is increasing exponentially. The question that I believe you are really asking is if the world will need Professional Land Surveyors, for boundary, in 2050. I still believe the answer is yes.?ÿ

Coordinating things in the field may become as simple as taking photos of monuments with your iphone49, but interpreting that data will continue to be a thing forever.?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿ
