My HP 35s needed new batteries. While stopping in WalMart I went by the battery kiosk,,,,,no 2032's. Home Depot, Walgreens, none there. Albertson's, Riddle's nothing. Finally while getting gas at the Holiday station there was one package. I grabbed it. Maybe I got the last one's in town.?ÿ

Is this an issue around the country or just my little patch of it?

?ÿ

2 days ago I was on an out of town job and realized that I forgot to bring my snow boots. With a foot of snow, I either had to scratch the day, or, run to the trusty TARGET where I happened to be at 7AM. been there before and new I could get some cheapo snow boots. But the shelves were nearly bare. The only pair of snow boots in the store were 12 size too small so I bought them and took the pain. I had always chose?ÿ

It's around the country...I went to three places to find tater tots and ended up getting tater "puffs" from some uppity grocery store that I've been inside of twice now. It was the last bag in the freezer.

Can't maker tater tot casserole without tater tots now can you?!?! ?????ÿ

Almost anything you would want to buy at NAPA or similar parts supply store.?ÿ Doesn't matter what you need one of, it may arrive in three or four days or three or four weeks.?ÿ If you need two or more, they might have one on hand but the other one will need to come from Lexington or Dallas or Minneapolis or Salt Lake City.?ÿ Heaven help you if you need four.?ÿ Wanted to put four new tires on my Jeep Compass.?ÿ Two came out of Lincoln, NE , one out of Dallas, TX and one out of Springfield, MO.

Iƒ??ll get flamed for this but here goes and w exceptions. ?ÿDid our grandparents rely on a grocery store to deliver prepared foods? ?ÿ I get it w the 2032 batteries but we can get by with much less than our wants. ?ÿTater tots? ?ÿ ???¦
To add to original post, supply issue or not enough of demand to stock product? ?ÿI find myself wasting time going to local stores only to find they donƒ??t stock my item. ?ÿDonƒ??t like ordering from amazon but I get what I am searching for.?ÿ

The comment on our grandparents way of life reminded me of a message I saw on Facebook (Metamucil or whatever) a few days ago.?ÿ It read as follows:

Due to the severe Winter weather, there will be NO farms or ranches closed due to the weather.?ÿ They will continue to operate no matter what the weather happens to be.

Iƒ??m surprised this calculator is as new as it is, 2007. ?ÿI have a HP48 GX, but only use it for adding up level runs in the field or the occasional trig calculation for office work. If I had to I could get by with the small solar powered TI calculator I have which I never use. I even bought an unused spare when I bought it last.?ÿ

It's as if there's a subtle silent pandemic like "endemic" hoarding occurring now like a phantom hoarding....

The entire salad section of my grocery store was gone last night at 1745.

I guess the salad eaters were really making sure they had a deep supply.

I blame facewhatgramapp for anything that is this weird anymore.

Lately a lot of groceries I'm fond of aren't on the shelf.?ÿ Either they're just missing on one visit and available next visit, or have disappeared apparently forever.

I'm a friend of the manager at my Von's supermarket and he said there's three things going on:

  • Many manufacturers have dropped items from their catalogs because of raw materials shortage and/or reduced manpower necessitating stopping production of their less popular products.?ÿ For example Beef Litt'l Smokies are usually available but I haven't seen Pork Litt'l Smokies for almost a year now.
  • Truckers are short of drivers so a scheduled load may not show up until a day or two later.?ÿ Marshalling warehouses have the same problem so ordered items may be out of stock.?ÿ My guy says an order may arrive on time but only deliver 400 of the 600 ordered items.?ÿ That means there's nothing in the back for restocking when a shelf runs out.
  • His store is understaffed by about 25% so they've curtailed the overnight restocking crews and restock mostly using the day shift.?ÿ So checkout lines are longer because he pulls cashiers out to help restock when they do get a big load.?ÿ They've got a table with applications at the door saying "we're hiring, join us!" but not getting much interest.

His advice is to not shop on weekends or Mondays and from opening to about noon because the restockers are catching up then.?ÿ The sweet spot is about 2:00pm when the shelves have been restocked and crowds are low and the evening crowds haven't stripped them bare.?ÿ He doesn't see it getting worse but a year ago he didn't see this coming as a chronic problem.

Retail friend told Mrs. File that itƒ??s pretty typical for the grocery store suppliers to now be splitting trucks - instead of both super1 stores in Kalispell getting a load of produce- they split 1 load between the 2 stores.?ÿ

We are lucky and happy to have one store.?ÿ What they have had happen is that the stores closest to the primary supply tend to get their lists filled, making the truck even lighter as it nears the far end of the route.?ÿ Some manager tells the driver, "Hey, could you add a couple extra crates to my order because we are almost out?"?ÿ The driver does this, then has two crates fewer when nearing the end of the route.

Also, my wife and I, instead of buying each other Christmas gifts usually make a purchase for the both of us or for the house. Last year was a new refrigerator. This year was a new larger bed (it's really for the dog). We ordered the bed in late November, early December and I received an update on shipping that now says delivery will be in April. Delivery started out being early January.

That made me laugh, and remember this video.

Took delivery of a pair of Leica GS18 GPS last week. Salesman said that this was the last of their stock, that they had been told to expect no more deliveries from the factory until April.?ÿ
