Hmm, Maricopa County. Why does that sound familiar??:-)
Oh, that could be any number of reasons....our State Legislature passing some arcane laws, our Governor sticking her finger in the President's face, our Sheriff who can't ever seem to pass up a photo op, our Fiesta Bowl executives on the take...
On a slight hijack, what happened to the Surveyor that use to post on the other board who ran for office in Arizona? He had some interesting viewpoints.
I don't really remember who you're referring to. Was that Helmuth Hack? If so, I'm not sure. He hasn't posted on the AZSurvey Topica email list in quite a while. He may have retired.
Interestingly enough, he was the one who happened to come across this Survey map that caused the firestorm.

Yes I think that was him.
Thanks Chuck,
Ralph

Yep, thanks for bringing that up. Brings back memories.
I think Kent started keeping a dossier on him.

That one made me spit all over my keyboard!

FWIW, the very obsequious Mr. Siddiqui has subsequently surrendered his P.E. License over this. The company was disciplined as well.

Is this documented anywhere?
I'd be interested in reading how it went down.
Never Mind I found it.

From my files: Map with 2/26/2008 Board Meeting Minutes
Hey everyone. Bringing back this blast from the past. Does anyone have a good link to this map so I can show some colleagues the "statement" in question?
For memory's sake, I'm referring to the map filed by the Structural Engineer in Maricopa County, AZ with the statement that structural engineers are the highest level of civil engineers, etc.
None of the links on this thread work anymore.
Thanks,
Ryan.
A couple broken links and images removed. Hmmmm. Seems like moderator mischief.

nope, remember the software change?
I had a PDF copy "From my files: Map with 2/26/2008 Board Meeting Minutes" but it is no longer on my web server. The Plot Thickens!
I am sure I have a backup, but it would be off site now. I will dig for it in a few days.
If I remember correctly the board minutes were also amusing. The on-line Az board minutes only go back to 2010, but someone in Maricopa County should be able to turn it up more quickly.

I found a total of 21 plats filed by that particular Registered Land Surveyor Structural Engineer on the Register of Maricopa County web site. He may have filed plats in other counties.
Would you like me to post all of them? if so, it would probably be best for me to download and post the PDFs to keep the folks at the Maricopa County Register's office from wondering about the sudden interest. One has the following gem.
Engineers seal hereon assumes that the land survey is correct
One of the plats actually explains his reasoning for signing the plats.

All would be cool! but that might overload this site's resources... alternatively a link to the download site and some basic navigation instructions would be cool.
