I came across this recent YouTube clip of a 30 story hotel completely built and furnished in 360 hours.... That is 15 days, it's a time lapse video and about 2.30 minutes long.

A lot of the decks are per fab steel done off site, but still very impressive to watch.

Now let's be honest they didn't "build" the building, they did assemble parts that they spent much time and $$ fabricating elsewhere. Also where did the foundation come from? I am sure there is no finish work completed yet either. The word "stunt" comes to mind. Do they have reality TV in China?

First off, we DO this sort of thing in many places around the country. I've seen plenty of buildings erected with prefabricated walls, etc., etc. There's a warehouse within walking distance of my office that was put up that way (although not anywhere near as tall as the building in the video).

I'd be interested in knowing how long it took to fabricate all those floors and walls, and also, what the labor costs were. Also, the site looks pretty simple to me.....not a lot of logisitics involved in getting to the site, deliveries and such, and very few neighbors, traffic, etc.

Someone below mentioned "unions", but I wonder who really "built" this building.

Don't just blame "unions".....blame unimaginative architects and engineers, and building suppliers who won't re-tool, and developers who won't try new methods.

I did 3 one day cycles here in NYC, that means a floor a day of cast in place concrete (not precast) all with Union, unheard of anywhere in the country.

I'm pretty impressed with the high-tech ballast weights and the pile driver.
